Just look at those three gorgeous puppies!
Today 2nd December 2013, my dog Roxy gave birth to 3 adorable puppies. We’ve got 2 girls and a boy and they are Westies. The thing is I haven’t had the chance to meet them yet as im at uni. *cries hysterically* Im going to tell you the long and tiring process of how these angels arrived. *don’t worry its not gory*
Last night was Roxy’s 62nd day of being pregnant, we expected that she should start feeling restless but I thought nothing of it when I was at home. I made her and Alfie dinner then went upstairs to pack my bag to come back to uni that evening. Whilst packing Roxy came upstairs and just stared at me, then started trembling. I knew something was up and something must have been happening and of course I started panicking as I was the only person in the house and rang my sister straight away.
She came home just as Roxy was throwing up everywhere and we ensured that she was comfy and reassured. My mum then came home and rang her friend who has bred Westies before and asked for advice and the women said this is the early stages of Roxy’s pregnancy. You could see that she was having contractions from were she is relaxed then panting excessively. Mum stayed up with her all night and kept an eye on her.
Today I woke up to mum telling that she was coming home from work early and had to take Roxy to the vets as she was really worried as nothing was happening. I went with mum to the vets and Roxy was examend straight away. The vet told us that she needed todo an ultrasound on Roxy incase the puppies had died. *this put a downer on us* When the vet got back from giving Roxy an ultrasound she told us that she found two heartbeats, but they very extremely slow. We agreed for the vet to have a C-Section on Roxy as she wasn’t pushing and the vet was worried for the puppies sake.
Me and mum went home leaving our princess all alone with the vet *which broke our hearts* and went home for a couple of hours before ringing the vets back. They said that Roxy had just come around from general anaesthetic and that she had 3 puppies!!! I was gutted that I had to catch the train back to Leeds and that I couldn’t wait to see the puppies, which broke me heart even more. Mum told me that she would keep me in contact and send me updates, but its not the same!
Ive just got off FaceTime with my mum and the puppies are sooooooooooo cute! They kept squeaking and Roxy looked so happy *bless* I can’t wait to go home on Friday and give them all a big hug!
